I have a friend that had one and swore by it. The problem with scales is the calibration. For them to be as accurate as possible, it needs to be put in a sturdy location and not bumped or moved. That really is the key to getting an accurate measurement. That way even if it is off a little, then she is measuring against herself relative to her last weighing so it should be fairly accurate.
For myself, I just took my baby to the grocery store and measured her on the fruit and vegitable scale. When my doctor first suggested this I thought she was nuts, but then I started noticing that more people do it than you think, lol.
Good luck and tell her keep it up - it's hard, but rewarding!
