Who told you that you have a gene for it?
From everything I know of spinal meningitis (which is, I assume, what you are talking about) the causes of SM are viral, fungal, bacterial or related to things such as injuries, drugs, etc. It is an infection that invades the cerebral spinal fluid. I have not heard of or been able to find anything relating it to genetics. I would do some more research into it and prehaps seek a doctor that specializes in SM to get better information. Whoever told you that may be full of it or grasping for straws.

My baby was born with spiral menengitis. It wasn't detected until shortly after she was born. Thank God I was at a great hospital, and the nurse noticed something wasn't right or she defaintly would not have survived...

Spiral menengitis...it isn't in your genes! Whoever told you that is full of bologna!
