With my first I was a teen. I was at the doctor w/ my dad because of feeling sick and the doctor announced it in front of my dad. I told him "your telling mom". They selectivly spread the news.
With my second I came home from work and told my hubby "I think I'm pregnant" - he had a friend over - drinking beer & grilling and he said "whatever - you can't be, your on the pill" and blew it off. I went in the bathroom, took the test and came out waving it saying "SEE - I told you!" As soon he realized I really was he was on the phone w/ his family telling them all. I didn't tell my family. I told my older son he was going to finally be a big brother and he ended up telling everyone he could.

Oh! It was awesome! I had this plan forever. We had dinner with all of our family members and we had our first ultrasound wrapped in little frames for everyone that said "aunt" "uncle" "grandma" "grandpa" and we made them all unwrap them after dinner at the same time. It was so neat to see their expressions change from confusion to excitement!

Then we popped some champagne we bought on our honeymoon that we had saved for this specific occasion (I of course had sparkling cider). It was magical. I was a rebellious teenager so I think everyone was excited I waited until I got married, lol.

And now she'll be a year old in a couple weeks - how time flies.

So LissaC - you have something to tell us, jk.:)

Yea... I didn't do anything special.... I actually was at my moms the night that I took the test for my 1st baby... I woke her up and showed it to her....
Then I called my dad and asked him if he was sitting.... I thought he was going to freak out on me, but he was so happy! He just laughed REALLY loud out of excitment. Then he came and got me and took me to dinner.
With my 2nd son, I called everyone on the phone.... I wanted to do something special, but my excitement got the best of me... I was so happy that I couldn't wait a single second... I just HAD to call and tell EVERYONE that I knew! My mom wasn't too happy, she thought I was having another baby too soon... BUT now she is closer to my 2nd son than she has ever been to anyone! He was born the day before her birthday so I think they have that 'bond'.

I just had a friend tell me she was pregnant.

She send me a message on Facebook saying that she has big news to share with me and to call her tomorrow. After replying going what big news? something that is going to happen tonight?

She replies saying, so call me tonight.

I call her

And I'm like, so whats the big news thinking it is that she is getting a divorce or something, but no, she said she is pregnant.

I still can't think of her as a future mom.

I (obviously) never had to tell anyone I was pregnant, but I did advise a friend once how to let her husband know. On my advice, she bought a little play oven (like the ones in doll houses) and for a supper meal she put the little oven next to her husband's dinner plate. When he opened the oven, there was a little bun inside it. He got the idea and she got the credit. I almost decided to market little ovens with buns in them for just that purpose, but as with many of my little flashes of inspiration, there just wasn't available time to make it happen.

P.S. --- to LissaC,
What's the matter . . . couldn't you hold off for just one more day so your son and your mother could have birthdays on the same day? How cool would that have been?

Maybe you and your partner should ask everyone to dinner at your home or out. Then show them the sonogram!

Idsch....
My mom was at the hospital with me when I had him and she kept tellin me it was too soon. "You only have 8 and a half more hours, dont push yet!" THEN she tried to get the doctor to change the date on the certificates. It was too funny.
