If you think they could be contractions, you should consult your physician. Braxton Hicks contractions can actually start around 6 weeks, but you shouldn't be able to feel them until about 1/2 way through (20 weeks) and that is actually much earlier than the majority of women start felling them. I would definatly give the heads up to your doctor. When you get these, you should stop what you are doing and put your feet up and call your doctor. Good luck!!

With any concerns you should always contact your doctor. You can call them and tell them your concerns and the nurse will call you back. Remember no question is silly or stupid especially when it comes to your health. Now this is just an educated guess but this sound like it may be Braxton -Hick contractions.Usually Braxton -Hicks Contractions are felt earlier with each sequential pregnancy. So if this is your second pregnancy this isn't unusual to feel them this early. If there is no pain or bleeding then there is usually no reason to worry. The contractions will get more noticeable and stronger as the pregnancy progresses and later in pregnancy can be confused with labor pains. This is just the bodies way of preparing itself for the real thing. True Braxton -Hicks contractions will quit or stop when you change position or move around. So later on when labor starts this is how you can tell the difference between true labor and false labor pains.

It sounds almost like Braxton Hicks contractions, but it is a little early for those. Sometimes your uterus will contract just as it adjusts to the stretching and growing that it is doing. I am 27 weeks preggo and am going throught the same thing. The main two things to look for are consistancy and pain. If the "tightenings" are not consisitant and don't last long they are probably just normal. If you start experiencing pain with them you should probably call your doc just to be on the safe side. GOOD LUCK!

Some women have Braxton Hick's contractions this early, but even if thats what they are it may be cause for concern, some women also have a condition called "spastic Uterus" this causes any pressure to trigger small contractions in one or more of the four uterin muscles. Either way, this should be addressed with your ob/gyn asap so any type of pre-term labor can be ruled out or treated promptly.

Its probably just Braxton Hicks; which are very common to get. However if you have arleady been to the Dr for this month then give them a call about it; if they feel it needs to be checked asap they will let you know; but if you haven't went to the Dr yet then just wait it out and tell them then about it. If you feel something isn't right though contact the Dr asap. My OB Dr always like how I was precautious about everything; like he always said I would rather see you every day when you feel something isn't right then for you to see around and not do anything about it and it be something majorly wrong.
