What is the effectiveness of implanon if you can see it?

Ive been looking at a few web pages and each of them say that you should be able to feel but not see implanon and i have also read that if it is too deep into the muscle it does not work so well. My problem is that you can see the implanon through my skin there is no hiding it will this affect its effectiveness?
