Any good products for sundamaged facial skin?

Has anyone had any success with a face product for dark spots from sun damage? I am getting some hyperpigmentation on my face and around my lips.

Yes - there are a ton of good products out there now that can help with the sun spots and help smooth your skin over time. If you are looking over the counter - look for a night cream that has alpha-hydroxy acid (glycolic and lactid acid) as well as having vitamin C.

Some of the best reviewed products are:

Neutragena Healthy Skin Face Lotion - Night ($9.44)
Alpha Hydrox Oil-Free Formula ($10.99)
Avveno Active Naturals Positively Ageless Firming Night Cream ($19.99)

You can pick up any of these at drug stores and they don't cost an arm and a leg and everything that I've read compares it to much more expensive department store creams.

Be sure to get Alpha Hydroxy not Beta Hydroxy. Beta is for acne prone skin and won't do much for thick sun damaged skin.

If you are going to a dermatologist there are more options:

Tretinoin and Taratotene are products you can get from your Dr that can reverse the signs of sun damage. Chemical peels and laser surgeries are also something to consider if you have very damaged skin or if you have a light complexion that is prone to skin cancers.

Hope that helps!

Believe it or not I have tried Vicks mentholated rub (for colds) on dark spots and it works I heard it from my mom because she used it on age spots. Just be careful of your eyes, you don't want to get Vicks in them. Also use lemon juice as an astringent and that will lighten dark spots. Good luck!p.s just give it a chance it takes more than a few days to work, you should see results in a month or so. Also Sheshido cosmetics makes products for dark spots.

I used the Obagi system, purchased through a dermatologist or an aesthetician (facial specialist - usually at a day spa). Obagi is made specifically for this purpose and works great. It also causes large pores to shrink and rebuilds collagen.

Expensive, but worth it.
