Yes - there are a ton of good products out there now that can help with the sun spots and help smooth your skin over time. If you are looking over the counter - look for a night cream that has alpha-hydroxy acid (glycolic and lactid acid) as well as having vitamin C.
Some of the best reviewed products are:
Neutragena Healthy Skin Face Lotion - Night ($9.44)
Alpha Hydrox Oil-Free Formula ($10.99)
Avveno Active Naturals Positively Ageless Firming Night Cream ($19.99)
You can pick up any of these at drug stores and they don't cost an arm and a leg and everything that I've read compares it to much more expensive department store creams.
Be sure to get Alpha Hydroxy not Beta Hydroxy. Beta is for acne prone skin and won't do much for thick sun damaged skin.
If you are going to a dermatologist there are more options:
Tretinoin and Taratotene are products you can get from your Dr that can reverse the signs of sun damage. Chemical peels and laser surgeries are also something to consider if you have very damaged skin or if you have a light complexion that is prone to skin cancers.
Hope that helps!
