How to get refund on bad color job?

I need to know how to approach my regular hairstylist (Owner of Salon) about receiving a refund for highlights that were not done right. He usually does a great job but this time he not only was 30 minutes late to work on my hair but charged me twice for highlights that you can't see. What should I say and how do I get my money back.

It's a lot harder to get your money back, but most salons if you talk to the stylist or the owner, they will fix them for you for free or for the cost of supplies. Technically he did the job, so most salons won't refund your money (although you can ask) but most will try to make it right. Especially if you are someone who has been there before.

Good luck!

How long has it been mos salons give a week so go back and let him know that you were not happy with your highlights and that he charge you more than usual tell him you want a refund for the full amount and ifhe says he cant just tell him to re do them for free or to do more and some treatments explain how you been going with him for a while and you want to keep doing it but that the job he did is not a good representation

One course of action would be to go to the salon while he is at his busiest time and complain. If he offers to do it again free of charge then make sure that you state that he has already done it twice and you are worried about losing your hair, which is a definite possiblity and he should know that. Ask him why he charged you to correct his mistake. Also make sure you express your dissatisfaction about him being late, and if it didn't take as long as it usually does, tell him that and you feel that he did not do a proper job because he was rushing your appointment to make up time to get his schedule back on track. This should strike an element of fear in him to have his other clientele overhear this and he may actually refund your money just to shut you up. Unfortunately it will most likely ruin any rapport you have with him. I personally would not go back to someone who charged me to fix their mistake as it is unethical. If you took your car to have the engine replaced and they charged you $3500 and the engine went bad after a couple of days, and they tried to charge you another $3500 to fix it, would you pay it? Same thing. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong. LTM. Susu

First of all, people run late expecially hairstylists. They want to do they're best to make everyone beautiful. Sometimes they get a client who just wants everything at the last minute and one little thing can set their whole day behind. I could understand if he wasnt working and was just chatting it up or reading a mag while you sat and waited but im assuming he was with another client. If you wanted him to spend a little extra time on you wouldn't you appreciate it if he did. If you cant wait for quality, (well soundes like he doesn't do quality work so i don't know why you go to him anyway) then go somewhere else. No one forces you to wait. I don't mind waiting personally because i find going to the salon to be a relaxing environment, during and when its over is usually such an upper because of how good i look and feel, but i go to my stylist when i have plenty of time to relax and I go to a good one. I respect my stylist and she repects me, if i didn't she would just somehow be booked whenever I wanted an appointment, (shes had to do that to rude clients) and i don't blame her. I wouldn't put up with that. But anyway, you wont get your money back, thats not how it works. Tell him it didn't turn out the way you thought it would and ask him for more highlights or soundes like you want more dramatic of a look, since highlights are very delicate. Maybe the communication wasn't there which should have been but soundes like he was rushed and probably noticed you wern't too happy about it. Im sure he will add more and for free. Why did you pay him twice? That makes no sense. You didn't question him on it when you handed him the money? Dont quite understand that one. But anyway I wouldnt listen to Susu or whatever, that is demeaning, anyone who does that is going to look rediculus and not be welcome back to that salon. He's not trying to stiff you, he wants to keep clients just call him up and tell him you would like more highlites because it didn't turn out the way you wanted it. He'll fix it for free. Promise. and if you feel like you were overcharged just talk to him about it, he may have been so busy he didn't even relize it. He;s a business owner. He knows he has to keep his costomers happy. Just be nice.. That gets you much farther and you will be made happy. Take Susu's route and you'll be ticked off all day, probably for a few days, look stupid and you probably wont get what you want.
