What you need to do if you want to do this yourself is go to a beauty supply store like Ulta, sally's beauty supply and get a big bottle of Acetone. What you want to do is soak your nails for about 5-10 minutes, then the acetone will start melting the acrylic. Then take a good rough nail file and start filing your nail, soak again and repeat until the nail is down the the plastic nail (if it hasn't grown out) then you should be able to peel it away. It's time consuming, but you want to be careful so you don't damage your nails.

I know there has to be a way, I see girls do it all the time. I just haven't had to do it myself personally.

The problem with removing them yourself is the damage that can be done to your nails and the nail bed as you pull up on them. Yes acetone can remove them fairly effectively but it is a harsh chemical that can damage the skin too. When you go to a nail salon, they will use acetone to soak them in, then they take an artificial nail and pry them up. You can do this at home. Your natural nails are going to look horrible so make sure to purchase a buffer block from a beauty supply place like Sally's and once you have removed each nail start with the roughest side and buff your nails from side to side, then use the next roughest side and continue til you get to the fourth and smoothest side of the pad. This will make your nails look healthy again. Then apply a small amount of cuticle oil to each nail and rub it it to restore lost oils from the harsh chemicals. Good luck. Susu
