Tan

How can I get a nice 'tan' for my vacation without going to a damaging tanning bed?
I tried that yesterday and now I have a light burn, and I only went in for 3 minutes like they reccomended.
I don't want to go to a tanning bed, but I am so pale and want a 'glow' for our vacation next week.

You may wish to try a dermatologist approved tanning lotion. I don't have a brand name for you as I don't use them, but do have family members who have. I'm sure if you run a google search for dermatologist approved tanning lotions, you'll find some. Or you may wish to give your dermatolgist a ring. They may be much safer than exposing your skin to damaging ultraviolet rays.

OK! I have found the solution! I have the same problem, where I don't like to go to tanning beds because I don't want to hurt my skin, but most tanning places have realized this and have what they call "mist tans". It looks like a stand up tanning bed but it sprays you with tanning lotion so you get an all-over, even and NOT orange look (if you are light complected, just don't go 2 days in a row - I looked like a carrot at my sister's wedding :).

Call around the tanning salons and see if they have the spray tan machines (they all call it something different - mist tan, cocktail tan, etc.).

In Colorado it costs about $15-$25. For best results go 3 days before vacation then one more time the day before you leave. Take a shower before you go and exfoliate your skin for a gorgeous, flawless glow. The best part of it is the instant gratification because you will start to look tanner as soon as you step out and it will get darker over the next couple of hours.

It lasts about a week so by the time it starts wearing off you'll have a tan from vacation! HAve fun!

Yep spray tanning is all the rage. Try mystic or sunset tan shops in your area. or look in the yellow pages under tanning.

also remember if you wax to wax first before the spray tan, waxing takes away the spray tan.

No way - sun outside is so damaging! I wear SPF 30 everyday so I don't look like a leather glove when I am 30. The spray tan is the way to get that glow without the damage. I have a package now that is $30 a month for unlimited spray tans. I go once a week and always look like I have a natural tan without killing myself!

Does any of this stuff wear off on your clothes or bedding?
Once I had the arisol spray tan and it wore off on my white sheets when I was sleeping and I could see if run off me in the shower. I dont want to be in the pool and have a trail of my tan following me in the water. lol.

Ha ha - the bottled spray on tans are notorious for "melting", but the tans from the tanning salon hold up to anything. When you first get it, you don't shower for 4 hours and before you shower I wouldn't sleep on your white sheets, but once you shower it's totally fine. I have worked out right after I showered and even the sweat didn't make it streak.
