The old rule still applies. If you get about what you expected for service, 10 percent ($5) is appropriate. If the service was extra friendly, the "DO" was great and you're in a pretty good mood, 15-20% ($6-$10) would be OK. Any more than a $10 tip would be considered showing off.

I usually give 20% to my hairdresser as I'm never dissapointed. Sometimes I'll give slightly more but I wouldn't necessarily say that it's showing off. To me it's a great token of appreciation for someone who works hard for her money and deserves a good break to have a day where she earns a good amount in tips.

If the hair dresser has done a good job then 20 pecent is good. but if you think the hair dresser deserves more then give them more. It's really up to you to decided. If you go there regularly it is best to tip properly. only tip 15% or under if you are not pleased with the service.

I always tip larger than most but I would suggest at least as much as you would tip a waiter. If you really love your hair tip twice that!
