What is jacquard?

Created by Joseph Marie Jacquard who developed a programmable loom that incorporated perforated cards that when the needle passes through it, it creates whatever pattern was on the card. This pattern is raised almost like a tapestry, damask, or brocade. in fact, it was the draw loom that creates tapestries and brocades which inspired Jacquard to create this loom. He worked as a draw-boy who would draw the threads through the loom. The programmable loom not only eliminated the need of thee drawboy but also reduced errors.
