Treats extra dry, over-processed and color-treated hair.
You can get it at Wal-Mart for like 10 bucks or so.
It says to use it once a week, but I used it 3x's a week for the first 2 weeks to get my hair back in shape. Now I use it as a weekly treatment.
I would suggest you have your girlfriend get her hair cut, even if just a trim, then try the hair mask!

PS, the directions also say to leave in for 3-5 minutes, and that is good, but tell her to wrap a hot towel around her hair for that 3-5 minutes. Just throw the towel in the dryer or soak it with hot water and wring it out, then wrap it up!

I would personally recomend K-Pak by Joico...it rocks...i have used it at a time when i had seriously damaged hair...it is a professionl product so you would have to go to a hair salon or a beauty supply shop that deals in Joico to get it...but i am serious about the results...plus as a little added bonus it smells fantastic!

I would try pantene pro v. it will make her hair soft and it will make it shine. if not that try ojon or herbal essance. i used to die my hair alot to so i no what ure talking about.
I use Wen by Chaz Dean. I live in hawaii, I get lots of sun damaged hair, chlorine damaged hair, you name it. You can try the free trial. Feels awesome on the scalp. I use the sweet almond mint and feels fresh and cool on my scalp.
Joico. They have so many detailed conditioners. Their Altima line is fantastic.
