Decorating with fresh flowers

My daughter is being married in CUBA in May. She would like to have three layers to her wedding cake, each layer being a favourite family recipe. She would like me to decortae her cake with fresh flowers. Do you know what fresh flowers will be available in CUBA at this time of the year? Can I decorate the cake with fresh flowers the night before the wedding? Will the flowers stay fresh if the cake is refrigerated, will the dye from the flowers run, do I have to use edible flowers?

The best way to do this would be to wait to put the flowers on before the reception. You can you edible flowers, but for the most part the flowers are for decoration and will be removed before the cake is served. A florist can tell you what type of flower will stay fresh and not wilt very fast.
