Proper dress for a guest at a 4:00 pm formal wedding

Pick a dress that is more dressy and tailored. Perhaps a festive cocktail dress that is elegant and classy. You can also add some simple jewerly and heels. If you are not comfortable in heels, find an elegant shoe with a small heel.

A nice dress, or a nice blouse and skirt. You might want to ask another female who is attending what they will be wearing and then follow her guideline.

Just wear something formal and if it's an outdoor wedding be sure it's something that won't get caught in the wind. You should be fine if you stick to those guidelines but do not wear white, because you don't want to upstage the bride. Also, don't wear anything too sexy or revealing. It's also good to keep in mind that most people don't wear black to a daytime wedding.

Well its all about the legs.. if you are 55 and you have nice legs still than I would wear a cute cocktail dress, just above the knee with a coordinating dress shoe.... If not, than wear a longer flowing elegant dress.... and if you know the colors of the wedding you could always pick a dress in that color range, thats what I like to do!

After 4pm dress all depends on many issues. For instance one of heavy stature, I would not recommend strapless, or a full skirt. Maybe a soft chiffon, and a color that would properly fall in place of the affair. Long dresses are formal for a black tie event and so are the shorter styles in most casses.. For evening ware, a simple style dressed u p with attractive jewely are the most attractive. The shoes are also important to complete your atire. Enjoy!

You could also wear a very dressy pantsuit (in a silky fabric) with dressy accessories and heels.
