What does a bridesmaid wear

You will want your bridesmaid to wear a similar cut. You obviously would not want her to wear a shorter dress than the Bride and a longer dress would make her look more formal. As the Bride you wouldnt want to appear under dressed. If your dress is simple and understated perhaps you would want your bridesmaid in a simple cocktail gown as oppposed to a traditional bridesmaid dress.

Weddings used to be planned as formal, semi formal, or cocktail attire. If the bride wears a knee length dress, she sets the dress standard as 'semi formal'. The maids definitely also wear the same length. I hope you'll be kind and not dress your bridesmaids to look like green marshmallows. Knee length is a nice look and gives your bridesmaids an opportunity to buy a dress that they could actually use for another occasion. Congratulations.

Weddings have defiantly changed over the past couple of years and nothing has to be traditional any more. The bride should choose a dress that compliments her bridal gown, but not takes away from her own.

Its the brides day and she should get as many things as she wishes to her liking in reference to plans and the look of the wedding.

If the bride is more laid back, pick out a couple of different dresses that you like and have them try them on next to you in your dress and see what looks best.

Where i am from, anything goes. I mean you wear what the bride picks out. More & more bridesmaids are getting dresses of different cuts but in the same color just to save cost.

If you are only having one attendant let her pick the color. then maybe the flowers for you and she could incorporate that/ those colors

She should wear a similar length---not shorter, but the same or at most a few inches longer, if that is a more attractive length for her.
