I've been wondering the same myself! I've looked into several self employed options over the past few years but haven't been able to find anything that one can earn a dependable, consistent living with and that doesn't cost money. I've looked into: Mary Kay, Russ Dalbey's Real Estate, Online Store, Real Estate Arena (property sales), Ameriplan and the latest, Locating saleable notes and buyers. All of these either required an investment (many ongoing monthly) which most unemployed folks may not have and/or require that you be a good sales person.

I've not really looked into the Google business yet. I would love to be able to find a good solid work at home business but haven't been able to find the right one for myself yet.

I'd love to hear what some of the other patrons here may have to offer in the way of information and their experiences with work at home and/or internet businesses. Good Question ex!

Good question, but if we started working on the internet, who would answer our questions?

The majority of the work at home ideas that I've seen aren't really so much about the individuals making money by actually performing the job, but rather about the company capitalizing on the profits gained by 'signing new members up' for an up front and sometimes continuing monthly fee. After you sign up, your best chance of making money is only by pursuading others to sign up and pay the same fee.

It's not to say there there aren't any legitimate opportunities out there. There are but you've got to be an enthusiastic, skilled sales and marketing person to multiply your earnings. I'm just not the type to pressure family and friends and aquaintances to buy something from my business. And again, I'm not in position to only pursue a business that will take a year or more to generate a decent income.

It's not that I'm not a diligent hard worker, because I am most definately that! It's more that I need the income NOW to support my family and don't have the leisure of slowly building a business.
