Arrested for unknowingly selling stolen goods

I was selling items on Ebay that I did not know was stolen. I went to meet a customer to exchange the item for money and the customer wound up being the police and I was arrested. They wanted to know how I got the items and from whom and seemed to already know the culprit. As I was leaving I asked the bailiff my status and he said the charges had been dropped. I was let out of jail less than 3 hours later for cooperating. They asked that I return any items I may have had and that they would be In touch. I would like to know what would be the probable outcome of this situation. I have never been to jail and have no prior record.

If the charges have been dropped then the police are being good to you. You should return everything as they asked, then you'll probably be ok.

Wow, where did you get the item(s) you were trying to sell? Find out the history of who/ where you got them from, you may be able to dispute this as being wrongfully arrested.

Fencing is Fencing, wether you knew the items were stolen or not, receiving them is still Fencing, I have to agree with prime here. Just be as co-operative as possible and you should be fine.

I would continue to cooperate and return any of the goods that you were selling on eBay.

Do you know who or who all you were getting goods to sell from could be stealing to get them to you?

They dropped the charges so you are okay. Just return everything and cooperate as much as possible. Call a lawyer to see how you should proceed. You may have to do nothing. You can also call the station and ask what you need to do to further remedy the situation.
