Can we "do business as" our former business name?

My husband and i recently decided to shut down our official business which was an S-Corp. We still do freelance work, and are wondering if we can use the name that our business was for purposes of marketing ourselves on websites, etc., but just have clients write checks to us using our personal name (not the business name).

Sorry, can't have your cake and eat too. Maybe reregister the s-corp as the DBA and all is good. You shut down the business for a reason. You cant cherry pick the "good" parts of the old, and use it for new. If the business has been "shut" down by the state, than you can register the DBA and your good. SImply file to the secretary of state to "close" the business and register the dba.
