Corporate Policy on Employee Photos

Our company would takes pictures of employees to post on the company internal web phone listing with their extension number we have recently had several employees refuse.

We also would like to have a photo on file for security reasons as our company is growing tremendously (over 450).

Do we have tha authority to require them to be photographed?

You can have them sign at hire in to have their pictures taken , if they wont or dont then dont hire them , but its really hard to get people now to do this after youve already hired them , unless they will sign a form to let you do this, this is part of the new hippa act, that is a privacy act, and the workers do need that, i wouldnt care a bit for my pic to be taken , but some one else might not be the same frame of mind as me, so respect evrey ones wishes, and just have the ones that want to have their pics taken to sign so you dont get into trouble over a law suit, in you company, some ones always ready to sue, and thats a good idea to have a sercuity pic , that might be a better way to start this,
