Employer trying to inforce a non-compete non-discloser agreement

I was terminated by my last employer when they found out I was looking for another job-in the same industry. I've worked in this specific industry for the last 12 years -It all I really know. After months of job searching - I was employeed by a competetor of my previous employers. Now they want to inforce the non-compete non disclosure agreement-which I was forced to signed 2 months after I was hired -it was sign or you can't work here situation. Now my previous employer is now sending out notices to customes and vendors -My previous employer and my current employer share some of the same clients and our industry is tight knit enough that everyone knows everyone- letting them know that I have signed an the agreement and any involvment with me violates that agreement.
Can they do this? it it legal to interfer this way and to notify "shared customer and vendors" of our agreement?
The other thing is that I now get a base salary + commission from my new employer. My inability to do sales interfers with my income and my position with my new employer.
They are a distributor same as my current employer and I don't feel like I am violating any confidentuality or trade secrets since they don't manufactur a specific item- they buy to resale and in order to get information on where to get a specific item you just need a brain and the internet.

You need to talk to some one. contact a labor law attorney and explain what is happening. Sounds like this is going to get a little ugly.

See if you can get a copy of the paper that you signed. Sometimes they are very specific........like, you can't work in this industry within so many miles of here for so many years. I don't think that they can keep you out forever. I never heard of a company talking to other companies to blacklist someone, but I have heard of companies suing the ex employee.
