It took them 8 hours to go 400 miles, so if they didn't pass any time zones :) their average speed was 50mph.

Well, we know they traveled 50 miles per hour. but we need to calculate their average speed, not distance right?

If you went 60 miles in 1 hour your speed would be 60mph.
60 (miles) / 1 (hour) = 60 mph)

So 400 miles (miles) / 8 hours (time) = 50 miles per hour is the average speed.

Right?
