In the state of Colorado if you send them a signed letter saying not to contact you, they are legally not allowed to make any contact until they serve you with court papers and that is all they are allowed to do. Also, if you are in the process of bancrupcy (even just considering) and you tell them that you are in the process (even if not yet) they are not allowed to contact you. Your financial consultant should be able to give you more info on your state laws, but there are some things to ask about. Again, I'm going by CO law, but your employer is not allowed to give out ANY info about you except to say that you work there. Due to privacy laws they can not give out your schedule at all. In actuality it is illegal (in CO) for someone to call your work (or show up) asking for you by name and for another employee to hand you the phone or say your not there. If you lived here you could sue your employer for giving out personal info if they did.
