Is it against the law for an employer to refuse an employee time off from work to attend a religious function?

Can an employee deny a leave request made by an employee for time off from work to attend a religious function?

An employer can refuse to give this time off. The only thing employers are required by law to grant time off is for jury duty. If an employee chooses to request time off within the guidelines of PTO, it CAN be granted, but an employer can refuse to give the time off if the employee is needed at work - the same as any other event.
