Is the US dollar decreasing in value or the Candian dollar increasing in value?

I read an article in the paper today about how Canadians are loving the fact that they can come to US and buy things so cheaply now because of the value of the Canadian dollar at times, being worth more then the US dollar.

With all the subprime loan fallout, and the decrease of the USD against all other world currencies, wouldn't have been more accurate to say that the USD has fallen in value against the CAD, instead of the CAD has gained in value against the USD.

It almost seems like it would be something bad, that would reflect negatively on the US and its currency if newspapers and media said that the USD was falling in value instead of all these currencies gaining in value.

Doesn't really matter how they spin it -- the dollar is weak and has been for months.

It will adjust itself back up over the next few years. A weak dollar isn't necessarily bad for the US, btw. US manufacturing benefits since US exports are cheaper. As manufacturing grows, there will be more job opportunities. It's possible that we'll see inflation, the Fed is watching that closely.

I thought there would have been more feedback on this topic about the US and Canadian dollar.
