Can i copyright my book by mailing a copy of it tto myself and never open it

I am a publisher and this is a common fallacy. What would stop a person from sending themselves an empty unsealed large envelope? Then they could just put your book in it and seal it and claim the original stamped date on the envelope?
Your book is automatically copyrighted as soon as you write it. But to be official go to this site:
