There are several web sites that can help you in your quest. I found this one to be very helpful:
www.citmedialaw.org. You can contact the Texas Secretary of State and get a a preliminary determination of business name availability. Their number is (512) 463-5555 or e-mail your name inquiry to corpinfo@sos.state.tx.us.
