TRUCK NOT WORKING

I have a small business of 3 trucks. I had a driver quit in November, and we have not been able to put in another driver. Someone told me that I could file a loss for the truck not working is this true, and how do they base it.

I'm not sure if you would be able to deduct that loss. Can you calculate how much business you lost because of it? That is a good question for a tax pro.

On the link above, if you go to page 93 it discusses what can be considered a lose. That section towards the end will also show you how to file a Schedule D on your 1040 should you be able to claim it as a loss.

I dont know how you would do that. Because by the truck not working it should automatically show up as a loss because of less income. If you base the previous year with the new years income then it would be a loss. So are you hiring?
