There actually is a law that forces companies that have drawings or sweepstakes to have an alternative method for entering the drawing. wither it is mailing a post card or letter or something.
Did you see the movie Real Genius with Val Kilmer? One of the main people, Lazlo I think, sent in to all these drawings that had no purchase necessary and won a ton of stuff for free including a motor home. Granted, he still had to pay taxes on it all, but it was still a nice set of prizes he won. Worth watching if you have never seen it.

Why is it you can enter a sweepstakes or drawing with no purchase necessary?
I was watching some tv and I noticed all of these sweepstakes and drawings you can enter with no purchase necessary. why is that? You think that they would make sure you bought something before giving away something for free to you.
