Do i need a permit to clear a piece of land?

In our family we have 10 acres of undivided family land. a cousin has built a home for him on one end of the property. my uncle has given me 2 acres to build a home for my family. it is listed as agricultural land. i would like to clear up 1 acre of it and eventually build. do i need a permit to clear it? and also do i need to sub-divide the property in order to build?

You need to devide land if he is going to deed it to you you need deed just to secure financing as far as permit to clear i doubt it but you may to dispose of brush and debrie or a permit to burn
