Can I get my grandchild full time?

As a Grandparent, how can I ensure that I see my grandchild... She has been living with me for the last 19 months (she is only 19mths old) her Mother is a stripper and just asks crazy. I have had medical advice that she is bipolr. the mother, my natural born daughter came and took the baby and is saying i'm not going to see her. She called me last night screaming at me saying that I only love the baby. I have been going through so much with her mother for the last 4 years.. I'm scared for the baby. what are my rights?

You would have to go to the courts to establish either

1. visitation rights
2. custody of the child, thus proving your daughter is an unfit mother

Grandparents have know legal rights, however if you fear the the child is in danger and can prove it you could file a motion with the court and ask for tempory guardianship. It is hard to do, you would just about have to know when shes doing anything wrong and be able to report it when if happens. If CPS is ever involved they will always call the nearest relative to take the child, like a granparent. In the mean time I would try not to get my daughter upset if she does have a medical promblem. Hopefully she will turn to you when she knows it is to much for her to handle. Be there for her so that she will know that she can turn to you. This is not easy but it is for the best of the child. Good luck sounds like your granson has two wonderfull grandparents.

Yes it is best to file for sole custody ASAP. Do not take any chances,it is always better when it is filed with the courts. You should also ask that court to not allow him any visitations and make sure you let them know what he did. I donot know if they will take his citizenship away from him due to the fact that after he gets out he would of served his time. But you ask an sttorney about that one. However as a sex offender that would mean he could lose his rights all together for seeing his children.
