Child support is a periodic payment made directly or indirectly by an non custodial parent to the custodial parent. The payments are arranged as part of a divorce, separation or dissolution of the marriage. Thus, Grandparents are not responsible for child support.

A few moths ago I would of thought this was a strange question, however after doing some research on this for someone else I found out that a gradparent can be ordered to pay child support, if a minor child has a child, and the father of the child is also a minor, that the parent of the minor child that has the child can actually file a motion against the father of the child's parents for child support. This is not in all states, but in a few, some states feel that the parents of a minor child that has a child is their responabitily to care for the grandchild as well.
