Childsupport/passport

My childrens father wants to get a job that requires him to obtain a passport to travel out of the country for work related purposes and wants me to drop the child support order i have on him, so he can do so. Im wondering if its possible for him to obtain a passport without me dropping the support order, and if i agree, is it even possible. He lives in the state of Indiana and the children and i live in Massachusetts. The order was given A little under a year ago, but because he hasnt had a job since then ive only recieved 420.00. At this time having the support order isnt doing either of us any good.. he cant find work and i support the children on my own. What should i do if anything?

He will not be able to get a passport because he is in the arrears on child support. You can drop the order (you might have to pay a fee) with no problem. Before you do drop the order, maybe you two can sit down and come to an agreement about payments (everyone sign the paper). Perhaps something like: after he gets a job, he can personally give up some money out of his check. Say he brings home X amount of money, he could give up Y amount to the kids. Just remind him at anytime that he does not follow thru, you can always re-establish the support order ( for a fee).

I would not drop the order! He can work in the us & get caught up, then he can get a passport & travel.

Well this is not about just him and his wishes. You have to figure out waht is more imporant to you him or the kids. If he is in errors then your not going to be able to drop it anyways. He has a responiably to his children and therefore I would see that he pay and how do you know if he left the country that he would come back or even worse try taking the children. As for saying the support does not do either one of you any good. That is wrong,if you try to stop the support he will have it made, and if you keep the child support in effect he will pay maybe not right now but he will pay and he will have to make all back payments and when that day comes you can use the money for their college if it takes that long. You can also get his incom tax refunds until all his back payments are made and he can also lose his licence. So he has alot to lose and you have alot to gain.
