How easy is it for a father sign over his right of his child because he doesn't want to pay child support in Texas

My daughter has recently become pregnant and her and the father of the child are no longer together, because he wants to be get on with his life. He has told her that he will just sign over his rights because he does not want to pay child support. We the parents are just waiting right now for the baby to come and let him have the paternity test he has requested and then if need to get a lawyer for child support?

All your daughter has to do when the baby is born go to the court and file for child support. The burden of proof is upon the father. If he wants to take a parently test let him and he can pay for it. He is not going to get out of paying child support just because he wants to. If your daughter agrees and lets him sign away his rights then she would be responiable to raise the child without the father. But she has to agree or it cannot be done. I would not let him off the hook that easy. By your daughter agreeing she is not allowing the baby to have a father and the baby deserves better than that, tell him go on with his life if he wants but he helped make the baby and he can help support him or her. Good luck

In Texas, child support and visitation are two separate issues. He can sign away his rights, but that is for visitation. Support should be pursued and will be awared if he is the father. He has to prove he isn't, that's ALL he could do. You've raised your child, you know what the financial costs are that your daughter faces now. Talk to her and get her to realize the sperm donor (guys like this don't really deserve the title of father) has to be made to at least take responsibility for the costs of bringing a new life into this world. Call a lawyer and get an appointment for a consultation.

If he is the father, he is the father and owes child support.

the only way out is pretty much if someone other male figure adopts the child. which at this stage wouldn't really be happening since they just broke up, and she isn't married to anyone.

if he does the DNA test, and it is his. make sure you do get him for child support. as he will have to pay it for the next 18+ years.

They are right he cannot voluntarily give away his rights and not pay child support. If that were the case there would be a lot more orphans that go without child support. If you make a child, you are legally bound to pay for that child.

Well if iam not mistaken he can if he wanted to sign off his parental rights and that will in many ways leave him with no obligation to pay child support or have visitations. It is something if he does do it, and later on decides he wants to have some type of bond with child, it will be harder to reverse. It would actually be set in stone. But then it would leave an open door for your daughter should she meet someone and marry and that person has cared for the child, they can then go forward with adoption as long as she keeps the document of the other person legally terminating parental rights.
