Are the braces in the contract for what you are responsible for?

you could probably deny it if it isn't. but your ex will probably fight you on it, and try and take you to court over it.

you could always pay it, it is for your kid, and these are things that kids need.

You are responiable for what is not ordered though the court. However you can always file a motion to modifly the orignal order and ask the court if they would allow for him to pay half on the braces and counseling. Do either of you have any dental plan or health insurance. You might check out that first. You can also talk to the father and see if he would be willing to help pay on his own before taking him to court.
