My childrens father wants to give up all parental rights and responsibilities, I wish for this to happen as my husband would like to adopt them, BUT we do not have the financial means to go through and adoption what can we do in IN?

My kids are 16 and 6. Both of my son's are on SSI for disabilities and my husband had to quit his 20 plus year job to stay at home and take care of our medical needs. We are despirit to fix this but have no idea how to legaly. We are afraid my health will only hold out about 7 more years at best and have great legal concerns for custody if we can not fix this. The Father of the children has not seen them of his own asking ever, and has told my 16 year old he does not want them period. Thanks for any info!

If your ex is wanting to give up his rights, then the law is he can if you are married and there is a stepparent that wants to adopt the child or children. You can go on line under legal forms for non contested adotion and downloan the forms fill them out and file them with the court. You will get a court date set. Your ex only has to sign his rights over giving your husband the right to adopt the children,he will then no longer have to pay child support.
