Termination of Custody
I am currently being sued for child support by my spouse who resides in a different state. I am currently paying child support and have since we separated, she is after TWICE as much as I've been paying her. In the state she resides, child support is required until the child is age 21. My attorney advises me that most other states require payment until 18. I currently live in MD and would like to know what the age of termination is for child support in the state of Maryland? In other words, I would prefer to stop payments at 18 vice 21. Can you help?

You will have to continue to pay the child support that the court has issued in the state that it was issued. If your ex is filing a motion to modifly the orignal child support order,she can file however thaat does not mean she can get anymore than your paying now. If you go to court you have a better chance of her not getting it raised. If you are making more money the court could allow for the raise,if not then she is more likley not to get an increase.
