Custody of an unborn child

I am 8/12 months pregnant, the father of my baby is wanting visitation rights but does not want to pay child support. He feels that if he and his parents can buy things for the baby, keep it at their house, when the baby comes for a visit then she can use them. That is his idea of child support. He is 27 yrs old, not working, is suppose to be going to school full time, just recently got a DUI. I guess what my question is is if he has no intention on paying any kind of child support, plans on buying, keeping stuff at his house then is that child support, what rights does he have, or am I just being played an idiot??? I am working to support my child, have worked throughout my pregnancy. He is bullying me, I need some advice, he says that his step-father will hire one of his high paid attorneys, make my life miserable, that I would never see a dime from him, that one way or another he would see his baby. Please give some kind of advice/answer.

I take it you and the father are not married. As soon as the baby is born I would file for child support and yes he does have to pay just as you have to give him visitations. You just need to file for support though the courts the burden of proof is upon him,in other words it would be up to him to take a partinilty test. If he does not file for one then the court will issue a court order for him to pay. You can have visitations ordered at the same time. You will want to ask the court for sole custody, other wise they may give you both joint custody. Most couples like joint but just remmber if he is threating you already then you would be smart to ask for sole custody. His threats mean nothing,as of right now he has know rights as they say the balls in your court. Good luck

You are being an idiot if you agree that is child support. having stuff over there when he has the kid is NOT child support.

child support is monthly checks made out to you to help pay for the child while you are caring for him/her.

if he is going to fight it, then you would need to hire a lawyer as well, so hopefully it doesn't come down to that.

hopefully that helps answer your question about custody of your unborn child

NO... THAT IS NOT CHILD SUPPORT! A court will order him to pay support to you (even with him not working and in school). What he buys for the child at his house or during his visitation is up to him, but dont let him pull the wool over your eyes. The child will be in your care and custody for 95% of the time... HE OWES THAT TO THIS CHILD TO HELP PAY SUPPORT OF HIM/HER... SCHOOL OR NOT! Speak to a lawyer and let the court make the decision.... NOT the man wanting to weasle his way out of child support... NO MATTER HOW WELL YOU ARE GETTING ALONG NOW... THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR PROBLEMS ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DONT AGREE ON ALL CHILD REARING ISSUES! BE SAFE NOT SORRY--- CONTACT A LAWYER!
