Custody question

My daughter has a child from an unmarried relationship. She has left the babies father and moved home. The father does periodically take the baby and care for him several hours a week. Does she have sole legal authority over the baby or does the father have automatic rights to make visitation demands? Does she need to go to court to establish her legal rights or is that the fathers responsibility if he wants more visitation than my daughter is willing to allow?

Thanks from Florida

Probably best for her to file for custody in court, that way he can't take them.
