Custody question living in New Jersey - seeking advice please . . .

Im in a relationship now with 2 kids: 9 month old and 2 year old I was wanting to know my legal rights in new jersey in order to leave the state because im not happy and im afraid where he situation is going to led to. We are not married the 2 kids have their fathers last name. I was a stay at home mom while the father went to work. I know im not stabbled right now due to the fact of not having income of my own coming in, i was wondering if i could take one kid and leave the other until i get on my feet or should i just leave and then file for custody when i get stabbled... Someone was telling me in some states if you just walk out and leave you give up your custody rights for applying in the future. I dont know what to do, i need help about how to go about it.....

If you are living with the father of the children you can not just leave and go to another state without getting permission from the father and if you left without his permission, it very well can affect your custody rights in all states. your best bet is to contact an attorney and together work something out with the father of your children.
