Does my mother need to have temporary custody ?

I currently live in Kansas. We moved here 1 year ago from North Robinson, Ohio. It did'nt work out and I am moving back to Ohio. My parents live in N. Robinson too, and I have made plans for my son (10) to fly to Ohio and start school in that school district (his old school) on August 25th. I am not able to move with my daughter until October 3rd. I do not know my exact address yet, and it might be in a different school district. I understand the part about the school district. The principal called me today and said my mother needs temporary custody. Why? It is only for about 5 weeks. Why can't I sign a paper giving her legal guardianship and have it notorized? If I do have to give her temporary custody, and she has the process started on Monday. Will this allow my son to start school and for how long? Because by the time the process has followed through, it will more than likely be void. Due to that it is only until October 3rd.

Well if your parents are residents of Ohio that is good in your case because ohio is one of the states with the highest constitutionality of a state that grants non parents visitation and legal rights. So what you need to do is give wriiten consent to your parents giving them consent to file for legal guardianship. That will work for you because it is ordered thogh the court and it is tempory meaning that the parent can file for custody back when ever they want. If your going to only be gone for five weeks then then chances are you will be back before the court date and then your parents can drop it. Your parents just have to show the school the papers stating that the child resides with your parents and they can use that until the court date they will need to tell the school this. Also they will need the birth certificate and social security and shot records ect.
