How can I change custody of my mother

My sister has custody of mom in New York/New Jersey and has put her in a nursing home and ignored her for the last year. How do my brother and I change custody to the two of us in Colorado and get her moved out here where she can have some family interaction without spending a fortune. Mom does have some special needs, she is 69, diabetic and bipolar. She is currently on medicaid, and just recieved medicare. There are 4 siblings, one has custody, one has nothing to do with our mom and my brother and I would like to know how we can get the custody contested and have her come live in Colorado. I have tried to contact my sister and she does not return calls, I faxed information about a nursing home out here and she didn't respond. My brother has tried too.

You need to call an attorney to see if your sister has actual Power of Attorney for your Mother. Explain the situation and see if you can act in your Mother's behalf, as you feel she isn't receiving the proper care and you want her close so you may fulfill her needs.

If you can't work this out with your sister, the court is your best bet.
