How can my son get sole custody of baby from his abusive, bi-polar mother.

I've been taking care of my grandson since May with my son. The baby's mother comes and goes into our life bringing chaos. The last episode, she grabbed the baby from me and squeezed him so hard he screamed. My son and I got the baby from her and I ran out the door with him and called the police. The police made us give her the baby reluctantly and sent her down the street where her mother lives. They said the law is that the biological mother has first rights on the child in Florida unless she shows signs of abuse, which she did. Later that even the woman was baker acted and ;put in a mental facility for 5 days. Now she's out and we're fighting to keep the baby. She in turn calls police saying we're kidnapping the child and we have to give him up. What kind of laws are these? She's been baker acted for years off and on and I am so fearful of something bad happening to the baby. My son goes from one court house to another and can't seem to get any help. What do we do?

My son is not married to the mother. He provides for him and the baby has a good stable home with us. She uses the baby to get my son back with her. He tries as nicely as he can explaining it's over between them She snaps, wants the baby and than calls the police stating the baby's being kidnapped. The police know her very well and the many time's she's been baker acted. She goes off her medication and becomes violent. She's come to my home, broke windows and damages anything in her sight. She has a 7 year old daughter that lives with her mother and has gone through hell also. The mother told us to please get custody of the baby as she has the one child with her and know's her daughter is not a fit parent. The baby has a lot of love in our home and when he's with her for a short time he become's distant and nervous. He is now ten months old. We live in New Port Richey, Florida
