That is a great thing you are wanting to do by opening your homes to your friends child. Would this be done without her knowing? To have the child taken away involuntarily would be very difficult and could be harmful to the child, but if you think her having the child would be more harmful you can contact Child Protective Services and let them know that she is unfit and to keep their eye on the mother, then if the child is taken away, you can offer to foster the child.
The best route to go would have the mother sign over guardianship to you. If the father is known then he may have to do the same as well. Good luck!

How do I go about gettiung custody of my friends baby?
My friend has been seen as a unfit mother so her other three kids have been taken away she is going to be having another baby here in a month or so and my husband and I were considering trying for custody of the baby then later on adopting it. How would I go about gettin custody if it and is it something that has to be done in court? or just by signing papers? Where do I start? this is all very new to me! I am looking for any and all help and answers I can get! THanx so much~
