How to get help for visitation rights

Custodial parent preventing contact with children. Plans on preventing parent from ever being able to contact them again. Custodial parent in TN w/children. other parent 800 mile distance. Have called trying to have a welfare check on children (been 2months since last spoke to them) Was told to get a lawyer. Can not afford a lawyer and financially unable to go see what is going. Custodial parent will not return calls to any family member on other side. Claims is "protecting" the children.

Do you have court ordered visitation rights? If so, you and file a violation of a court order. If there is no legal agreement through the court, she doesn't have to let you see them. If you have no court papers about visitation, I would suggest that you go file them in family court. I am not sure if you would have to file in her hometown or not, but if you call your local family court, they can let you know what to do. Also ask them about what your legal rights are and if there is a way that they can be checked on for you. If you do not make enough money for a lawyer, look into getting a DA or check your area for a lawyer how gets paid pro bono. Good luck to you!
