How to make sure courts see that you have more stability to keep your kids if the other parent filed to regain custody of the kids

I am wondering what you can do to make sure that the courts see that you have been the supporting parent to the children. That you have stability and structure. Considering that the other parent abandon the children and now wants them back. And, would it make any difference if I were married?

Documentation can help like... Letters from teachers, coaches, freinds, family & your pastor that support your cause. Receipts from doctor visits, clothing, etc... Living your life with your child is your testimony. Good Luck!

The children are only 1 and 2 yrs of age. Iam trying to help my fiance keep his kids. As much as we would like to terminate rights its very unlikely. I have raised these kids as my own for a year and 3 months. And, I know that the mother of the 2 children will try anything as much as lie to get her kids. But is documentation all we have to stand on? Thank you to those who posted it has guided me much. But any other guidance would be much appreciated.
