I am the maternal grandmother. I have been taking care of my 2 year old grandson physically and financially since 9/2007. I would like to adopt him.

My daughter and her boyfriend, my grandson's father, don't want to take responsiblilty for my grandson. I have been the primary caretaker since he was born. My daughter tried but was too consumed with her and her boyfriend's unstable relationship. I kicked out of my house on September 22, 2007. Since then I have been the sole provider for my grandson. She sometimes buys diapers and some food with her food stamps. Everything else is left up to me. She sees him maybe once or twice a week for about 3-5 hours at a time. She has had him overnight about 10 times in the last ten months, she insists on having him for the holidays so they can play house. They refuse to have him full time and she refuses to let me adopt him. The dad refuses to pay for anything for him and she allows that. Together they don't make enough money to provide for him, even if they wanted to. I am very tired of taking care of him all the time while they have all the legal rights. I would like to adopt him, but I don't have any savings for a lawyer. Has anyone else been in this position that might have some good advice for me? Thanks.
