If I have not seen the children I am paying child support for am I still required to pay child support?

I have not seen one of my daughters since she was three months old and she is now five years old. Her mother changed her last name without my permission. Would that not abolish my rights as the father and if so why am I still having to pay child support? Also, I haven't seen my other daughter in over a year and I do not know where her or her mother is at. Why am I still having to pay child support? Can anyone help me?

If you have been ordered though the court to pay child support then you have to continue. However you have every right to file for joint custody and visitation rights though the court. Child support and visitation is not the same and one has nothing to do with the other.

Yes, you still have to pay child support no matter what. They are still your children and you still have to help support them. You should contact the child support unit and explain to the worker that you do not know where these children are (because the mother's choose not to tell you) and that you would like to see your children. Also, you can always contact Family Court and explain the situation to them. If you already have visitation set up...it's illegal for these women to not inform you of where the children are. You have every right as a parent to see your children unless otherwise noted by the court. Good luck to you!
