If my grandma has my daughter and guardianship, how do i get her back

My grandma has had my daughter for 6 years she took her from CA to MT and got guardianship, she lives in CA now and wont give her back. Ive been on my feet for 3 years now, and i have no idea how to go about finding the court papers or what my rights are. a lawyer i got a free consult with said i have to have a attorney in MT file a termination of guardianship, but how do i get up there, and anyways my grandma is in CA now, i pay child support to tehama co., so shoudnt they tell me what rights she has and if she has some kind of custody?
