Can my child's father get joint custody?

The father of my child and myself were never married. Right now I have primary and he has secondary custody and has to be supervised due to drug and alcohol problems. Our daughter is 18 months old. He has not paid child support. I recently got married and he is threatening to take me back to court to get her half of the time. Can he do that and actually get that?

It is called joint custody and all that would mean is that the both of you would have the say in decition making regarding the child.Since he now has supervised visits the court will most likely not allow for joint cusody. He has issues with drinking and the court is not going to allow for any changes until his issues are resolved.
