Father with custody question

My wife and I are currently seperated and living in different homes. I recently received the paperwork that was filed by her attorney and noticed that she filed for sole custody?? I am a responsible parent who has a good job and I love my boys more then anything. I've been told that sole custody is rarely granted unless the parent is a criminal, sex offender, drug abuser etc......which is not the case here. Do I have anything to worry about or is this common for the wife to try and get sole physical custody?

It is common for to try & get everything you can get when you file, then you negotiate from there. You should have no problem.

Wel it is common that the wife think that she has all the rights however she does not times have changed. You need to appear in court and you will have a say in what you want and if you want joint custody i don't see any reason why you won't get it the judge wants both parents to be active in their childs life. Joint custody only means that both parents have a say in the decition making of the child or children. The mother would still have the physical custody. Joint custody has nothing to do with child support. Alot of people think that and ask for joint custody and find out later thats not the case. You might also want to see that it is stipulated in the divorce degree that neither parent is allowed to move out of state with the kids. You might also want to stipulate that the custody is to be held in jurstition of your stae other wise if she were to move and became a resident in another state she could file against you there. Protect all your options now because so many people are not aware of all these options and find out the hard way. I hope this has helped you.
